NUKO Announces Ashok S. Kanagal as Vice President of Operations; Also Announces Plan to Accelerate Release of First Quarter Results.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 1997--NUKO Information Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:NUKO) today announced that Ashok S. Kanagal will become Vice President of Operations.

In this capacity, Kanagal will report directly to Bob Kondamoori, President and CEO. Kanagal comes to NUKO with over 14 years of direct experience in operations at Intel Corporation, SEMATECH and Honeywell. As vice president of operations, Kanagal will have responsibility for all operational functions at NUKO.

His experience includes the start-up and rapid ramp-up of Intel's Assembly/Test factory in Chandler, Ariz., as well as implementation of company-wide manufacturing productivity processes at several Intel manufacturing facilities including system level, sub-system level and semiconductor chip level manufacturing.

As a key member of the SEMATECH management team, Kanagal led the consortium's efforts on improving the supply-chain and implementing its "Partnering for Total Quality(TM)" program. A number of equipment and material suppliers to the semiconductor industry were able to significantly improve their competitiveness and customer satisfaction as a result of these efforts.

A member of the prestigious "Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award" Board of Examiners, Kanagal has established and chaired several industry councils on quality and reliability. Kanagal holds a graduate degree in engineering from the University of Texas and an MBA from Arizona State and has published several papers and articles on topics ranging from manufacturing, productivity, management and equipment reliability and Total Quality Management.
