A space between two things; an interval.
(TM) Virtual Reality Community Builder.

Now visionary developers have a product that includes the technology, tools, manuals, and sample "worlds" needed, to create, customize, and host dynamic 3D InterSpace web sites.

InterSpace VR Community Builder is the first and only authoring tool package that includes the technology which allows multiple-users the ability to interact within a 3D environment, using text chat, real-time audio, and facial image video-capture communication; over a 28.8kbps (or faster) Internet connection. Use of the product enables developers to reform static 3D models created with 3D Studio Max (or any tool that exports .3DS files) into improved, dynamic, 3D Internet sites.

Takashi Nishimura, General Manager of NTT SOFT said: "We're proud to contribute to the next major advancement in global Internet communications, by providing InterSpace's face-to-face communication which utilizes real-time audio and video, in interactive 3D environments. Now developers have all the multi-media tools necessary to make distance learning, electronic commerce, telecommuting, interactive gaming and entertainment, and on-line communities, more engaging and visually compelling."

InterSpace VR Community Builder includes: InterSpace VR Browser, Sample Worlds, InterSpace VR Community Server Software, InterSpace Creator, Developers Manual and InterSpace Script Reference Manual. InterSpace VR Community Builder beta version A pre-shipping release of hardware or software that has gone through alpha test. A beta version of software is supposed to be very close to the final product, but, in practice, it is more a way of getting users to test the software in the first place under real conditions.  2.0 can be downloaded for free at: http://www.ntts.com/interspace, or the CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.

InterSpace VR Community Builder is scaleable for a large number of simultaneous users. Pricing for the basic package starts at $2,000 for sixteen concurrent users. For a complete list of prices and services contact the sales and marketing department at NTTS.

InterSpace VR Community Builder -- Main Components

InterSpace VR Browser is a stand-alone Windows 95/NT application used to 'browse' different virtual environments hosted by the InterSpace VR Community Server. InterSpace VR Browser facilitates real-time interaction between end users worldwide, within 3D environments. People are able to communicate via text chat, live audio, and live video-capture (from a camera device connected to the user's PC) over a 28.8kbps (or faster) Internet connection. InterSpace VR Browser CD-ROM is available free of charge.

InterSpace Community Server is a scaleable server software package used to host InterSpace Communities. Multiple worlds may be hosted by the server software. The collection of worlds hosted by the server software is referred to as a World Cluster. The server itself consists of several server programs that act together to host virtual worlds on the Internet. Individual server programs can also be placed on separate computers, allowing for greater flexibility in terms of allocating network and hardware resources, to the task of hosting virtual worlds. Currently, InterSpace VR Community Server is available for Sun SPARC (Scalable Performance ARChitecture) A family of RISC CPUs from Sun that runs mostly under Sun's Solaris, but also under Linux and BSD operating systems. After development began in the mid-1980s by David Patterson of the University of California at Berkeley and Bill  stations running Solaris 2.4 (or later). Versions for Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking.  and Linux will be available soon.

InterSpace Creator is a visual authoring tool with an intuitive graphic user interface See GUI. , utilized to develop multi-user 3D environments for the InterSpace platform. Developers use InterSpace Creator to define objects and behaviors for those objects found within a virtual world. An object is a combination of model built with 3D Studio Max, (or any tool that exports .3DS files), and behaviors defined by InterSpace Script, and/or sound files in the form of .wav or MIDI. InterSpace Creator helps to accelerate the development time of the virtual worlds for the Internet.

InterSpace Script is a high-level programming language A high-level programming language is a programming language that, in comparison to low-level programming languages, may be more abstract, easier to use, or more portable across platforms.  designed to rapidly prototype multi-user virtual worlds. It is also used to define motions, behaviors, and links to other virtual spaces within InterSpace worlds, such as: animating 3D objects, triggering sound effects sound effects

System requirements To be used efficiently, all computer software needs certain hardware components or other software resources to be present on a computer system. These pre-requisites are known as (computer) system requirements and are often used as a guideline as opposed to an absolute rule.  for both InterSpace Creator and InterSpace Script include: Windows 95 OS; 133MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. VR@Tower - The Tower Records E-Commerce InterSpace Site

InterSpace VR Browser enables end users to navigate through a 3D virtual reality Tower Records online site. Tower Records developed their site to include private music clubs and chat rooms, wherein avatars communicate face-to-face with other users worldwide. Visitors may also listen to music samples of their favorite CDs, watch a variety of streaming video clips, and purchase products from a Tower Records sales representative- with whom the purchaser interacts in real-time, or through the Tower Internet website at: http://www.towerrecords.com .

InterSpace VR Browser Bundled With The ELSA Graphics Accelerator Board

The InterSpace VR Browser client software is bundled for free, with the ELSA WINNER 2000/Office. The ELSA Winner 2000/Office is an all-in-one card, which delivers super sharp 2D/3D graphics, and boosts the performance of general RC and multi-media applications, for corporate desktop users and home users. For information, call ELSA, Inc. at 1-800-272-ELSA (3572), or visit their site at http://www.elsa.com.
