NTT DoCoMo, Mitsubishi Electric Jointly Develop Two-Screen Mobile Handset Prototype.Tokyo, Japan, Oct 4, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - NTT DoCoMo (NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc., Japan) Founded in 1991, NTT DoCoMo is a spinoff of Japan's NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation) which provides wireless services, including cellular, paging, satellite and maritime and in-flight telephone services. and Mitsubishi Electric have jointly prototyped a two-screen cellphone (CELLular telePHONE) The first ubiquitous wireless telephone. Originally analog, all new cellular systems are digital, which has enabled the cellphone to turn into a smartphone that has access to the Internet. (each screen on each side). For ease of use, the handset has a touch-panel screen that displays no more than 3 different function buttons at one time. The switch button also activates emoticon buttons and ten-key buttons on the screen. The world's first of its kind, the auto-scanning function enables the user to select one of the three buttons displayed on the touch panel when it glows, by touching a part of the screen. The prototype also features the "feedback" function to enable the user to get a solid feel when pressing a button on the touch panel to ensure the correct function is activated. The company will exhibit the prototype at CEATEC CEATEC Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (Technology and Electronics Exhibition, Japan) JAPAN 2005 to be held in Makuhari Messe from October 4 through 8.
