NTT Data to Promote Generic Drug Prescription.Tokyo, Japan, Apr 7, 2006 - (JCN) - NTT Data, in collaboration with Data Horizon, will begin offering Generic Drug generic drug, a drug sold or prescribed under the nonproprietary name of its active ingredients or under a generally descriptive name rather than under a brand or trade name. The name of the active ingredient is established by a government or international body, and is typically the U.S. Adopted Name, British Approved Name, or International Nonproprietary Name. Promotion Notice, a service for promoting the prescription of generic drugs, on April 10. The new service, which is intended for health insurance insurers, shows how the prescription of generic drugs contributes to reducing medical expenses. Specifically, by analyzing information on drug prescription offered by the insurers, the service enables them to identify which items can be substituted by generic drugs and how much cost reduction is likely to be possible. The service is available in two types: a variable-rate service (Type I) and flat-rate service (Type II). NTT Data expects that this service will help widespread the use of generic products to achieve reduction in medical expenses. In line with the start of the service, the company plans to hold seminars in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya Nagoya (nä'gō`yä), city (1990 pop. 2,154,793), capital of Aichi prefecture, central Honshu, Japan, on Ise Bay.
