According to IDC, the U.S. Content Delivery Network Services market is expected to grow to just over $2.0 billion in 2006. The NTT/VERIO SCD cache servers are located on the NTT/VERIO Global IP Network edge. Placing a customer's Web content, including Web pages, graphics images and streaming media geographically closer to end users drastically reduces download latency and network congestion.

In addition to caching a customer's content, the solution's global server load balancing provides elements of traffic management and intelligent routing, which enable the redirection of end user requests to the most optimal servers containing the requested content. The new service incorporates border gateway protocol (BGP) anycast technology, which efficiently routes requests to the nearest domain name system (DNS) server, making maximum use of the NTT/VERIO Global IP Network's management under a single autonomous system (AS). This model greatly reduces DNS look-up time and improves total performance. System compatibility covers a variety of protocols. In addition to static content like HTTP for text and static images, the NTT/VERIO SCD solution is compatible with Windows Media Technology, Real Player and Quicktime. Both on-demand (archived) and live video are also possible.

The NTT/VERIO SCD solution is complemented by a comprehensive package of IP services such as network access, virtual private networks, managed Web hosting and colocation, which provides a single source of bandwidth and space for companies.
