NSO Abnathey joins Service Headquarters staff.


National Adjutant ADJUTANT. A military officer, attached to every battalion of a regiment. It is his duty to superintend, under his superiors, all matters relating to the ordinary routine of discipline in the regiment.  Arthur H. Wilson, with the approval of National Commander Bradley S. Barton, appointed National Service Officer Isaac J. Abnathey as Associate National Service Director.

"We offer Mr. Abnathey sincere congratulations and best wishes in his new position," said National Adjutant Arthur H. Wilson. "He will continue to carry out his new responsibilities with the same sense of dedication and professionalism that have marked his career with DAV See WebDAV. ."

"As Associate National Service Director, Mr. Abnathey will play a key role in the day-to-day operation and oversight of the DAV's National Service Program," said Wilson.

The DAV National Service Program employs some 250 National Service Officers, 25 Transition Service Officers and approximately 140 support personnel in more than 80 offices throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

Isaac Abnathey, a service-connected disabled Air Force veteran, began his DAV career as a National Service Officer at the St. Petersburg, Fla., National Service Office in 1994. He joined the National Appeals Office staff in Washington, D.C., in 1996 and was later admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims After nearly four decades of debate on the subject, Congress exercised its power under Article I of the Constitution and passed the Veterans Judicial Review Act of 1988 (VJRA) (102 Stat. 4105 [38 U.S.C.A. § 4051] [recodified at 38 U.S.C.A. § 7252 (1991)]). . In 1998, he was promoted to Assistant Supervisor at the DAV's National Appeals Office.

In 2000 he was promoted and assigned as Supervisor at the National Service Office in Columbia, S.C., where he served until his current appointment at National Service and Legislative Headquarters.

A native of Newberry, S.C., Abnathey is a life member of DAV Chapter 60 in South Carolina South Carolina, state of the SE United States. It is bordered by North Carolina (N), the Atlantic Ocean (SE), and Georgia (SW). Facts and Figures
