Imagine your name in lights, big ones high in the Glendale night sky.

But wait -- there are a couple of catches.

It's not going to be your name, but one you come up with.

And, you've got to be in the commercial real estate business to play this name game, which is being organized by GVA GVA

 Daum's Burbank office.

It could be time well spent, since the contest, which ends Dec. 1, features $5,000 worth of prizes.

Daum has been named the leasing agent for the 419,141-square-foot two-building complex at 500 N. Brand Blvd. by its owner, ING Clarion A family of application development systems for Windows from SoftVelocity, Inc., Pompano Beach, FL (www.softvelocity.com). Anyone familiar with Glendale should recognize this building.

An e-mail blast about the contest will be going out to area brokers early this week, he said.

The 22-story building was built in 1990, and ING bought it in March for $141 million.

In addition to the rebranding, ING is making a variety of upgrades, including a cafe with outdoor seating, a new location for the complex's signature bronze stallions and a remodeled ground- floor lobby.

Weiner refers to the complex as a trophy property.

And this kind of effort could focus attention on the property in a market with a vacancy VACANCY. A place which is empty. The term is principally applied to cases where an office is not filled.

``The Glendale office market is beginning to hit its stride with increased leasing activity,'' Weiner said. ``The 500 North Brand building and pavilion offer one of the finest trophy leasing opportunities in the Tri-Cities area with rental rates that are 20 percent to 25 percent less expensive as compared to nearby Pasadena and Burbank trophy buildings.''

The leasing team also includes Paulette Toumazos, a Daum vice president, and Jennifer Donaldson.

ING officials could not be reached for comment.

Contest entries can be e-mailed to paulette.toumazos(at)gvadaum.com.

And anyone who enters will win something.

Brokers submitting names for the property will be invited to an on-site luncheon at which time the winners will be announced.
