The Raw Food Masters Culinary Showcase Held in Negril, Jamaica

A week-long conference celebrating a raw foods lifestyle was held in Negril, Jamaica, drawing 200 participants from around the world and bringing together dozens of raw foods chefs and practitioners who shared their talents and insights with attendees. The Raw Food Masters Culinary Showcase, sponsored by Vitalities, Inc. and the Hippocrates Health Institute, provided participants with a week-long menu of food demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and raw foods meals and snacks prepared from organic, local Jamaican produce. VRG Nutrition Advisor Suzanne Havala attended the event at the invitation of the sponsors. VRG frequently receives questions from the general public and health professionals concerning the health and nutritional aspects of a raw foods-style vegetarian diet. An article is planned for an upcoming issue of Vegetarian Journal in which the topic will be explored in detail.

Nancy reports that the VRG booth she staffed at the Sony Health Expo was a great success! It was held outside on the "main street" back lot of the studios. It was select-a-health-plan time for Sony employees, so attendance was great. She gave away all the VRG material and gave one copy of Vegan in Volume to the Los Angeles Fire Department--the chief stopped by and said that the firemen needed some vegan recipes for the vegan staff!
