Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation (MAAF MAAF Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers MAAF Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation MAAF Mediterranean Allied Air Force (WWII) MAAF Malayan Auxiliary Air Force MAAF Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund ), based in Baltimore, MD, has launched a program called "Artists & Communities," intended to foster the support and function of the arts in citizens' daily lives. Through a "millennium initiative" grant from the National Endowment for the Arts National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Independent agency of the U.S. government that supports the creation, dissemination, and performance of the arts. It was created by the U.S. , MAAF is sponsoring the move of 56 professional artists to both urban and rural communities across the country as artists-in-residence for periods of three to nine months. Each host organization selects which artists to bring to their community and works with the artists to develop the structure of each residency. There will also be a Web site where all the residents and host organizations can communicate and where works-in-progress will be exhibited. The Gualala, CA-based Alinder Gallery, known for its extensive Ansel Adams print collection, is joining forces with New York New York, state, United States New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. Establi shed in early 1999, Edward Carter's eponymous gallery already holds the world's largest collection of work by Adams, accumulated with the assistance of Jim and Mary Street Alinder, Adams experts and founders of the Alinder Gallery. The Alinder Gallery will also assume the name Edward Carter Gallery, but will still be run by the Alinders.
