The Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  United Tidal Waves girls soccer team is holding registrations for the upcoming season.

Players must be born after Aug. 1, 1987. Practices are on Wednesdays and Fridays at Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  elementary school elementary school: see school. .

Football: The Santa Clarita Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is accepting sign-ups for youth flag football.

Children ages 10-12 are eligible.

The cost is $55 per child or $110 per family.

All players must attend a practice session to be rated. Practices will be held at Newhall Park through Friday.

Softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Invented (1888) in Chicago as an indoor game, it was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies' : Spots are open for players 16 and older in the adult softball leagues. Registration is at the Castaic Sports Complex.

The team fee is $300, plus $10 per game for umpires.

Leagues include men's play on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Women's teams play on Tuesdays and and coed teams play Sundays and Thursdays.

Football: The Castaic-Santa Clarita Valley Cougars' youth football team is holding registration for ages 11 and 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Castaic Sports Complex.

Age grouping is determined by the age of the child on Aug. 1.

Soccer: The Santa Clarita United Soccer Club, a girls' 15-and-under gold-division club team, is holding tryouts this month.

Any player interested in a one-hour individual tryout should call (805) 252-8015 for an appointment.

Coed roller hockey: The Santa Clarita Roller Hockey Center's third annual adult coed tournament is scheduled for Aug. 31.

Each team must have two women playing at all times.

Trophies will be awarded to the top two teams in the league.

The cost is $275 per team.
