Cal State Northridge first-year football coach Jim Fenwick has picked up two top players from the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  in Saugus High School's Kevin Giberson and Chris Kobe.

Giberson was an All-Area player last season at linebacker. Kobe came on strong at quarterback. Both have made oral commitments to the Matadors.

Also set to attend Northridge is former California wide receiver Jason Sharp, who attended El Camino College El Camino College is a two-year public community college located in the city of Torrance in Los Angeles County, California. It is commonly referred to as "El Co" or "ECC". It consists of 37 buildings spanning an area of roughly 26 acres (105,000 m²).  this year. He played at Cal in 1995.

The Matadors are also competing for two top players from Highland High in Bakersfield. Quarterback Jeff Dover is a 6-foot-2-1/2 senior who passed for 2,200 yards and 29 touchdowns. He's also considering Hawaii. Wide receiver Ethan Beck is 6-3-1/2 and weighs 195 pounds. Both are three-sport stars in Bakersfield.

City soccer pairings: Reseda's boys' soccer team received the top seed and home-field advantage throughout the City Section 32-team boys' soccer playoffs in pairings released Tuesday.

For the boys, top Valley teams after Reseda were Birmingham (No. 7), Sherman Oaks CES (No. 8) and Poly (No. 10).
