NOTES : CRESPI, CHAMINADE TO RENEW FOOTBALL RIVALRY.Byline: Daily News Crespi and Chaminade, longtime local sports rivals, have agreed to open the 1997 high school football season with a game at Pierce College. ``It's a great game for Valley football,'' Chaminade athletic director Ed Croson said. The two schools haven't played against each other in football since 1993. Baseball playoff intrigue:The Southern Section baseball playoff divisions will be broken up by school enrollment this season, and the question is how many schools will decide to play in a higher division. The enrollment figures place Crespi, Chaminade, Notre Dame and St. Francis in Division IV for the upcoming season. All four schools have played Division I baseball in the past. Teams will have the option of deciding if they want to move up during the first two weeks of the season. Another school that could benefit from using enrollment is Westlake. The Warriors are listed in Division III after playing in Division I. On the rebound: Grant's Nakeisha Perkins, playing in only her second varsity basketball season, is on the verge of breaking the school's career-rebounding mark of 555. This season, the junior post player is averaging 16.5 boards through 15 games. Junior high champs: Mike Luderer scored 31 points as St. Mel's defeated Chaminade 67-57 in the championship game of the Paul Muff Grammar School basketball tournament. Luderer was named the tournament MVP.
