The Rancho Simi Rancho San José de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi is one of the land grants in California by the Spanish government. The name derives from Shimiji, the name of the Chumash village here before the Spanish.  Recreation and Park District is accepting registration applications for its youth basketball league Noun 1. basketball league - a league of basketball teams

 on Oct. 18 and 25.

Registration is scheduled for only the dates and times listed. Children should be present at the time of sign-ups in order to be skill-tested.

Registration will take place at Rancho Santa Susana Santa Susana can refer to several places:
  • The Santa Susana Mountains in southern California
  • Santa Susana Pass, running through the abovementioned mountains
  • Santa Susana Field Laboratory, near Los Angeles, a test facility for rockets and (formerly) nuclear reactors
 Community Center.

The sign-up times: Girls' league on Oct. 18, 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., third- and fourth-graders; 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., fifth and sixth; 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., seventh and eighth; on Oct. 25, noon to 12:30 p.m., seventh and eighth; 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., fifth and sixth; 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., third and fourth.

Boys' league on Oct. 18, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., third- and fourth-graders; 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., fifth and sixth; 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., seventh and eighth; on Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., seventh and eighth; 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., fifth and sixth; 11 a.m. to noon, third and fourth.

Basketball: Results of the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District 1997 summer adult basketball playoffs:

In the Sunday Men's Open division, Motion Makers defeated Atom club 42-39; Monday Men's Open Cornerstone defeated Zuma-5 53-48; Tuesday Men's Open Chaparrel Land defeated Strait Ballers 66-63; Wednesday Women's Open Playin Again defeated Game Over 48-39.

Softball: After two games in the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District 1997 fall adult softball leagues, the Blessed Hope Chapel and SVCC SVCC Southside Virginia Community College
SVCC Sierra Vista Community Church (Upland, California USA)
SVCC Switched Virtual Circuit Connection
SVCC Shenandoah Valley Coin Club (Virginia) 
 are tied in the Friday Church C-2 division with a 2-0 record.
