NOTES: SUMMER'S OVER; IS IT TIME FOR HOOP DREAMS ALREADY?

The Simi Valley Vikings club basketball program will begin preparation for the fall-winter season by hosting a number of free instructional clinics at local high schools.

Girls and boys in grades 4 to 8 who are interested in participating on one of the nine Vikings teams should call (805) 526-4022.

Jam rescheduled: The first Ventura County 3 on 3 Jam, which was scheduled for Aug. 1-2, will be held Sept. 26-27 at Mesa Verde Middle School, 14000 Peach Hill Rd., Moorpark.

The tournament is for players between the ages of 7 and 70. There is a three-game-minimum format.

The cost is $80 per team, with benefits going to the Moorpark DARE program and International Order of Job's Daughters.

There are various skill levels and age groups.

Door prizes, including Clippers and Sparks tickets, will be raffled.

Adult league: The Conejo Recreation and Park District Sports office is accepting applications for the 1998 Adult Fall Basketball League.

Games will be played Thursday and Sunday evenings at Thousand Oaks and Burchard community centers. The league is open to ages 16 and up and offers C and D divisions.

Fees are $315 for in-district teams and $378 for out-of-district teams (includes an $80 refundable forfeit fee).

Register at the Crowley House/Sports Office starting Sept. 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Baseball: Signups for the West Hills winter high school baseball league are being accepted.

Entire teams or individuals are welcome.

The league begins play Sept. 12.

Swimming: Conejo Simi Aquatics will be holding tryouts and registration for the fall session on Mondays at 5 p.m. The registration and tryouts will be held at Thousand Oaks High and at Rancho Simi Community Pool in Simi Valley.

Birth certificate will be required at registration. Swimsuit, towel and goggles will be needed for tryouts. Participation levels range from novice to junior and senior.

Softball: The Southern California Diamonds Girls' fast-pitch softball team, which is based in Thousand Oaks, is looking for coaches for 16-and-under and 18-and-under teams.
