NOTES: NINE LOCALS SELECTED FOR OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT SOCCER TEAM.

The Antelope Valley Ambush, an under-14 girls team, had eight players selected to the Olympic development soccer team following a tryout in Bakersfield.

The eight: Heather Brown, Shawna Coombes, Amanda Heins, Melissa Land, Corin Schlecht, Ashley Walsh and Amy Threlfall. Robyn Blondeel-Timmerman, from the Palmdale Youth Soccer club, also made the under-14 team.

In the under-15 division Courtney Blondeel-Timmerman and goalkeeper April Cline were chosen. Candace Chappell, from Palmdale AYSO AYSO - Alabama Youth Soccer Organization
AYSO - Albuquerque Youth Soccer Organization (Albuquerque, New Mexico)
AYSO - All Your Saturdays Occupied
AYSO - American Youth Soccer Organization
, also made the team.

These players compete for state teams beginning in February.

Baseball: El Dorado Little League is holding signups for the upcoming season today from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Antelope Valley High School.

The signups are for kids ages 5 to 15. Discounts will be given to early signups and families.
