NOTES: KAOS SOFTBALL TEAM STAYS ON TOP IN BURBANK.

The KAOS KAOS - Kent Applicative Operating System , an 12-and-under softball team, remains in first place in the Burbank ASA Asa (ā`sə), in the Bible, king of Judah, son and successor of Abijah. He was a good king, zealous in his extirpation of idols. When Baasha of Israel took Ramah (a few miles N of Jerusalem), Asa bought the help of Benhadad of Damascus and  Fall League with an 8-0 record.

In the game against the Purple the KAOS scored first in the first inning, but the Purple added two runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead.

The Kaos scored the tying run in the seventh inning and the winning run in the top of the eighth on consecutive hits by Kysten Reed, Courtney Ribnick and Ashley Arnett.

Christine Ross pitched the bottom of the eighth to pick up the win.

In the game against the Comets, Arnett pitched a two-hit complete game, allowing one run.

Reed, Amy Pidancet each had two hits and Ross, Mandi Sekly, Brittney Koutz each had one.

Sam Cueva and Mel DeLeon each had doubles.

The KAOS has allowed five runs in eight games and the pitching staff has allowed only two earned runs.

Softball: The Ballistic girls' fast-pitch softball club will host 10 teams from throughout Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  on Saturday at Rancho Susana Park in Simi Valley.

There will be 18 games played between 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The 14-and-under and 18-and-under Ballistic teams will participate in the event.

The Ballistic also will host an all-day barbecue as well.

Softball: The Strike Force, an 18-under softball team, will hold tryouts Thursday at the Arcadia County Park from 6-9 p.m.

The Force is in need of fast-pitch softball pitchers.

Soccer: The Santa Clarita United Soccer Club is seeking players interested in training and playing for a Gold Level boys' under-14 team for the 1998-99 soccer season.

Those born on or after Aug. 1, 1984, are eligible.

Softball: A men's adult softball league is forming at the Castaic Sports Complex in Castaic and team signups are being accepted.

The men's slow-pitch league is sponsored by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation and is open to players aged 16 and older.

The team fees are $300 plus a $10 umpire fee per game. Championship T-shirts and trophies will be awarded.
