NOTES: FALCONS FINISH SECOND IN SOCCER TOURNAMENT.

The Palmdale Soccer Club Falcons and Thunder thunder, sound produced along a path of a lightning flash, caused by the rapid heating and expansion of the adjacent air. Rolling thunder occurs either as a result of the time difference between sounds from the far and near end of a flash, or when mountains, layers  teams participated in the 12th Annual Mayor's Cup Soccer Tournament in Orange last weekend.

The Falcons, competing in the under-17 division, lost to JUSA Gotcha (jargon, programming) gotcha - A misfeature of a system, especially a programming language or environment, that tends to breed bugs or mistakes because it both enticingly easy to invoke and completely unexpected and/or unreasonable in its outcome.  2-1 in the championship game with their only goal being scored by Albert Zamora.

To get the the championship game, the Falcons defeated Villa 3-0 on Saturday with Billy Wright scoring two goals and Ricky Olmedo adding one.

The Falcons then defeated Team Montana 2-0 with goals by Manuel Albert and Raf Garcia.

On Sunday Sunday: see Sabbath; week.  the Falcons defeated Orange Soccer Club Newcastle 2-0 to advance to the finals.

The Thunder, competing in the under-12 division lost to Cal Flyers by one goal in double overtime in the championship game.

The Thunder tied Bakersfield Gunners 1-1 in the first game of the tournament with Dillon Leslie scoring the lone goal.

It is the business and processing center of a diversified farming (notably dairying) area.  Hills United 3-0 in the semi-finals with goals by Steven Roth, Sunberg and Bent.

Soccer: The Palmdale Youth Soccer League is taking signups for this season.

The program is accepting applications for players ages 4-15.

Signups will be Saturday and March 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Domenic Massari Park at 55th Street East, south of Avenue R.

The cost is $45 for one, $80 for two and $120 for three or more per family.
