NOTES: CAMARILLO GYMNASTS STRIKE GOLD IN LAS VEGAS NATIONAL TOURNEY.

Eleven athletes from World Stars Gymnastics Training Center in Camarillo traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the Men's Blackjack National held Feb. 6-8 and came home with gold.

Joshua Kirsch won the gold by placing first in the Class IV, all-around competition. Kirsch also finished second on still rings, vault and high bar events.

The Camarillo team - Kirsch, Jeremy Dwork, Justin Soppe, Christian Garnett, Matthew Dwork and Bart Sowell - took first in the Class IV team division.

Eric Garnett placed first on still rings in the Junior Elite Class II division and 13th in the all-around.

Other members of the team are Justin Berkman, Jesse Poon, Matthew Cohen and Victor Carreiro.

Tennis: A weeklong tennis camp for boys and girls ages 8 to 14 is being sponsored by the Conejo Recreation and Park District Sports Office.

The camp, at Triunfo Community Park in Westlake Village, is from 9 a.m. to noon April 6 to 10.

The cost is $75 for district residents and $90 for those who live outside the district.

Mail-in registrations are being accepted through March 14, with late registration starting March 23.
