The Community Services department of the College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  in Valencia is offering ``Introduction to Bass Fishing in Southern California'' course at the north Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County campus.

The classes will be held Tuesday evenings from 6:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. beginning Feb. 2 and concluding Feb. 23.

The instructor for this 12 hour course will be professional bass angler Ron Cervenka, who will cover a variety of topics, including seasonal and behavioral patterns and much more.

The cost for the course is $59 and seating is limited.

Interested anglers can reserve a spot for the class by phoning the College of the Canyons Community Services department at (805) 259-7800 ext. 304. Reservations will be taken on a first come, first serve basis.

Soccer: The Santa Clarita United Soccer Club is seeking players interested in training and playing for a Gold Level boys' under-14 team for the 1998-99 season.

Those born on or after Aug. 1, 1984 are eligible.
