NOTES: AGOURA JVS FINISH A STRONG THIRD IN SOCCER.Byline: Darnell Felton Daily News Staff Writer The Agoura High boys' junior varsity soccer team completed its season with a strong third-place finish in the Marmonte League. Coached by Sebastian Alvarado, the team finished with a 7-4-3 record. The team was lead by sophomores Guy Friedman and Sunny Jagiani. The Chargers had a starting lineup of six freshman and thrived on strong defense and a rapid counter attack. Other members of the team are Ben Carmona Carmona (kärmō`nä), town (1990 pop. 24,515), Sevilla prov., SW Spain, in Andalusia. It is a farm center for an area raising cattle, cereals, fruits, and olives. Ferdinand III of Castile took Carmona from the Moors in 1247 after a year-long siege., Mike West, Daniel Dregne, Scott Drechsel, Adam George, Matt Chin, Mike Maurer, Jon Mooney, Steve Loupee, Brian Gudgel, Amit Mahendru, Mark Sedmon and Joe Marchese. Tennis: A weeklong tennis camp for boys and girls ages 8 to 14 at Triunfo Community Park in Westlake Village is being sponsored by the Conejo Recreation and Park District Sports Office. The camp is from 9 a.m. to noon April 6 to 10. The cost is $75 for district residents and $90 for those who live outside the district. Hockey: The Thousand Oaks Midget A Ice Hockey team won its third consecutive tournament by topping the President's Holiday weekend contest in Fresno. The Thunder has a record of 13-2 and is tied for second place in a division of 19 teams. The Thunder is preparing for the Southern California Hockey Association League championship in March. Softball: The Conejo Recreation and Park district office is accepting applications for the adult spring/summer softball leagues. Divisions offered are men's open, women's open and weeknight coed COED - Coeducational COED - Commission on Education for the Deaf COED - Compact Oxford English Dictionary COED - Cooperative Education COED - Cooperative for Education (Cincinnati, Ohio) and masters, men's church, men's Sunday, women's Sunday and Sunday coed. All leagues are slowpitch. Each team plays a minimum of 12 games. Qualifying teams compete in the district playoffs following the league season, which starts March 13. Games are played at Thousand Oaks Community Park, Peppertree Playfield, Borchard Community Park and North Ranch Playfield. |
