They helped lead Sylmar to the City 3-A championship. Teammate Ingrid Ariza made first-team All-City 3-A and was joined by Poly's Gaby Gallardo and Edythe Seflin and Canoga Park's Janelle Balzer and Sandy Carr. Sylmar's Bob Thomson Robert 'Bob' Thomson was an English footballer who played during the early 20th century, mainly prior to World War I.

Playing as a forward, Thomson carved out a career in the game despite having only one eye, resulting from a childhood accident with a firework.
 was selected Coach of the Year.

In 4-A, Westchester's Iris Bell was named Player of the Year. First-team picks included Kennedy's Christine Thach and Melissa Kuhn, Chatsworth's Pamela George and Van Nuys' Angela Eckmier, Jane Ahn and Peggy Hongthong.

Hall of Fame inductees: Montclair Prep basketball coach Howard Abrams and former Dodgers publicity director Steve Brener are among 14 people to be inducted into the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Jewish Sports Hall of Fame at ceremonies on Jan. 18 at the Westside Jewish Community Center. They will join 109 previously elected honorees.

Finals of baseball tournament: The championship games in the West Valley Baseball Tournament will take place Sunday at West Valley Little League's Franklin Fields.
