Vargas then knocked Thompson from the dais with a left hook. Thompson jumped back onto the dais and threw a punch that hit Shaw in the jaw as he was attempting to break up the fight before security guards restored order.

Shaw was more confident than ever that his fighter, Vargas, would win.

``You don't have to worry about this guy. He can't even drop me,'' the 50-ish Shaw reportedly told Vargas.

Thompson, a 30-1 underdog, will be disciplined, according to Nevada officials.

--Take that: Oscar De La Hoya Oscar de la Hoya (IPA pronunciation: [ˈɑs.kɛɹ dɛ.lɑ.ˈhɔɪ.jɑ][1]) (born February 4, 1973) — nicknamed the Golden Boy  has said repeatedly that he won't fight Vargas because he objects to some of Vargas' comments. Now Vargas, gaining rapidly on his East L.A. rival in terms of marketability, is saying the same thing.

``I don't want to fight him,'' he said. ``For what? He has two losses in a row. There's no incentive there for me. Mosley definitely beat him. He doesn't do anything for me.

``I need a fighter with a name. . . . He's history to me.''

Ouch.
