 star Justin Gimelstob Justin Gimelstob (b. 26 January 1977, in Livingston, New Jersey) is an American tennis player. He won the 1998 Australian Open and French Open mixed doubles titles with Venus Williams as his partner. , now of Miami, is alive after defeating Australia's James Sekulov 6-3, 6-3 late Monday.

Gimelstob, who advanced to the semifinals here in 1998 but fell in the second round last year, is considered a dark horse. He figures to face tournament favorite Mark Philippoussis Mark Anthony Philippoussis (born November 7, 1976) is an Australian tennis player. He turned professional in 1994 and as of 2007 resides in Nevada, United States. His background is a combination of Greek and Italian and he is well known for his powerful physique, standing at 6 ft 5  of Australia in the second round.

--By default: Philippoussis entered as the No. 2 seed, but that was before top-seeded Andre Agassi withdrew because of a back injury. Philippoussis faces Chicago's Vincent Spadea in the first round at 4 p.m. today.

--Tuesday's results: Neville Godwin of South Africa defeated Australia's Scott Draper in three sets, and ``lucky loser'' Lionel Roux - Agassi's replacement - knocked off 19-year-old Taylor Dent of Newport Beach in three sets.
