The latest crucial test is behind them, but another one awaits.

It will be this way for the Kings for the rest of this season, either until they grab a playoff berth or are eliminated from the race.

This season, the Kings have placed some prospects in Springfield of the AHL, which also receives players from the Phoenix Coyotes. The Kings also have several players with the International Hockey League's Long Beach Ice Dogs The Long Beach Ice Dogs were a professional ice hockey team in the ECHL. They had suspended operations at the end of the 2006-2007 season.

The Ice Dogs trace their origins to the San Diego Gulls, a team in the now-defunct International Hockey League that began play in 1990.

Matchups: This is the only visit this season by the Eastern Conference-leading Senators, whose five-game winning streak ended Saturday night in San Jose. The Kings outplayed the Senators in a December meeting in Kanata, Ontario, but were defeated 3-1. The Kings are 2-2 on their season-long seven-game home stand.
