NOTEBOOK: IN COLLEGE, HIGHLAND'S RAWSON TWINS WILL BECOME RIVALS.

Byline: Gerry Gittelson Staff Writer

Twin sisters Nichole and Natalie Rawson, side by side for four softball seasons at Highland High of Palmdale along with many travel-ball summers, celebrate their last game together at the 15th annual Daily News All-Star Softball Game at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Glendale Sports Complex.

They'll go their separate ways next semester. Nichole, a pitcher, is headed to Colgate, where she'll join sister Melissa, a sophomore first baseman. Natalie, a shortstop, is going to Marist, one of Colgate's top rivals.

``It's really sad. Between Highland and travel ball, we've played so much softball together,'' Nichole said Wednesday at the East's practice at Saugus High. ``But it'll be fun at college when we get to play against each other. Usually, Marist and Colgate play each other a few times through the year. This year, they played four times.''

``Even in fourth grade, Meredith was always the superstar,'' Guza said. ``She's always been real serious about softball. Since we went to different high schools, we haven't seen each other as much as we used to. But we still talk on the phone about once a month to keep up, and I usually see her at softball tournaments.''

--Cap, gown and not around: East players Kristin Lueke, Casey Pickard and Lindsey Kontra of Hart of Newhall weren't available for Wednesday's practice because they were participating in graduation ceremonies.
