Wayne Ferreira Wayne Richard Ferreira (born September 15, 1971 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a former tennis player from South Africa.

As a junior player, Ferreira was ranked the world's No. 1 junior doubles player and No. 6 junior singles player.
 and Arnaud Clement, the only seeded players participating Monday in the Mercedes-Benz Cup at UCLA's L.A. Tennis Center, both advanced in straight sets.

--Slow day: Because of the Davis Cup and European tournaments, only five singles matches were played Monday.

--Good mix: The tournament is a good preview for Olympic fans because the singles draw features 32 players from six continents and 14 countries - including six players who are No. 1 in their country.

--Oh, to be young again: Ronald Agenor, at 35 the oldest player in the singles draw, lost to Kevin Ullyett 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-4 in the first round. Agenor, nicknamed the ``Haitian Sensation,'' surrendered nine aces.
