NOTEBOOK: A SHINING MOMENT.

Byline: Fred J. Robledo Staff Writer

ARCADIA - Our Shining Hour turned in another sharp performance for trainer Howard L. Zucker and jockey Kent Desormeaux Kent J. Desormeaux (born February 27, 1970, in Maurice, Vermilion Parish, Louisiana) is an American thoroughbred horse racing Hall of Fame jockey who holds the U.S. record for most races won in a single year. .

The 2-year-old remained undefeated after three starts, beating a five-horse field to capture Friday's $75,000 Sunny Slope Stakes at Santa Anita's Oak Tree Meeting.

Our Shining Hour covered the six furlong course in 1:09.76, improving his earnings to $46,800. He returned $3, $2.20 and $2.10 as the favorite. Tony's Royalty fought back to finish second, with King La Boo sneaking up for third.

``That was just perfect,'' Zucker said. ``I loved the way he ran first time out from off the pace. And like Kent said, you can use him any way you want to.''

The next move for Zucker is to stretch his horse out.

``I'm sure that he'll get a mile,'' said Zucker. ``He's got such a great turn of foot when you ask him to go after horses. I like him off the pace. He'll stretch out better that way.''
