KRONKE >TV CRITIC I think we're all agreed that a moratorium is long overdue on jokes involving the words "vampire" and "sucks," and yet CBS' "Moonlight" opens with the line, "Being a vampire sucks," a warning as to the degree of inventiveness that follows. Alex O'Loughlin stars as Mick St. John, a vampire private detective in Los Angeles (which sounds like the setup to another joke, but, alas, no). Sophia Myles plays Beth, a reporter for Buzzwire, an online news tabloid. They meet at a crime scene where the victim appears to have been murdered by a vampire. Seems this nubile nu·bile adj. 1. Mick is assigned the case by his pal Josef (Jason Dohring), a successful businessman and "one of the oldest vampires in L.A.," who is worried that the murder represents bad PR for vampires.
