NOSTALGIA NIGHT TO AID FIGHT AGAINST DIABETES.

VALENCIA - The Valencia AutoSpa will hold its monthly Charity Cruise Night on May 4 with more than 100 late-model and classic cars.

The event is a fund-raiser for the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. Steven Marcus, the diabetes association's local chapter president, has a 14-year-old son with diabetes. The disease is the seventh-leading cause of death in the nation.

The AutoSpa holds the monthly event and frequent community carwashes to raise money for local charities, and so far has raised $400,000.

``We think the American Diabetes Association is an important cause,'' said Randy Cressall, AutoSpa owner. ``I have seen a number of families who have struggled with the disease and it takes money for scientific research to find cures for diseases. This disease affects people of all ages.''

Participants in the cruise night not only have the opportunity to show off their restored vehicles, but earn a chance to win a trophy in a number of categories such as the People's Choice, Best of Show, Best Stock Car, Best Engine and Paint Restoration, etc. Additionally, they have a chance to serve a charity as well.

Open to the general public, the monthly cruise night features vintage classic cars from the 1920s, '30s, '40s, '50s and '60s. In addition to classic cars such as a mint-condition '57 T-Bird, T-Buckets, a Rolls-Royce, late-model Mustangs, Packards, Corvettes, Hudsons, muscle cars and a '37 Buick Roadster, top music hits from the '50s, '60s and '70s will be performed by Rio Deluxe de·luxe also de luxe
