NORTHRIDGE STUNNED LATE HAWAII SCORES FIVE RUNS IN FINAL INNING TO DEFEAT LOCALS.

 -- After a string of dramatic, come-from-behind victories, Northridge Little League learned what it's like on the other side.

The 12-year-olds gave up five runs in the top of the sixth and final inning in a 6-5 loss to Hawaii (10-2) in front of an announced crowd of 10,000 in Western Regional action Saturday night at Al Houghton Stadium.

Northridge (13-2) must win at least one of its two remaining pool games to qualify for the Western Regionals semifinals Thursday, followed by the championship game at 6 p.m. Saturday, televised live by ESPN ESPN Entertainment and Sports Programming Network 2.

Northridge continues pool competition against high-powered Arizona (17-0, 2-0) at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the third of four pool games.

Northridge finishes against Nevada (7-1) at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the semifinals Thursday.

This is Northridge's fourth appearance at the Regionals, the last in 1994 when the team eventually finished as the World Series runner-up.
