NORTHERN DIVISION ROUNDUP: WESTLAKE HANGS ON FOR VICTORY.

Chase Calderon intercepted a pass at the 2-yard line with 19 seconds remaining as third-seeded Westlake held off a furious second-half rally to beat visiting Oxnard 31-28 in a first-round Nothern Division playoff game Noun 1. playoff game - one game in the series of games constituting a playoff

Westlake (11-0) scored on three of its first six offensive plays to build a 21-0 lead with 5:57 remaining in the first quarter.

Rio Mesa 42, Ventura 14: Malachi Lewis ran for four touchdowns and Shane Austin threw for two more to lead Rio Mesa of Oxnard to the victory over visiting Ventura (4-7).

Lewis scored on runs of 29, 14 and 70 yards on the first three possessions for the Spartans (10-1) and finished with 242 yards on 20 carries.
