NORTH HILLS MAN GROWS BEANS AT HOME.

Dexter Scott loves his beans and sprouts so much that he plays his clarinet clarinet, musical wind instrument of cylindrical bore employing a single reed. The clarinet family comprises all single-reed instruments, including the saxophone. The predecessor of the modern clarinet was the simpler chalumeau, which J. C.  for them to give them a little extra love.

 with deep lines from years of working under the sun, spends his days selling his beans and sprouts that he affectionately grows out of his farm in his backyard in North Hills, a hobby he's had for 17 years.

You can see him in his trademark black felt cowboy hat at any farmers market from Glendale to Long Beach through the week.

He's the counting the beans and playing the clarinet.

You can get a quarter pound of beans, peanuts, pumpkin and sunflower sunflower, any plant of the genus Helianthus of the family Asteraceae (aster family), annual or perennial herbs native to the New World and common throughout the United States.  seeds -- great stuff for soup -- for $1.50.

This morning I caught him as he was carefully setting out his beans in tubs at the Glendale Farmers Market, held every Thursday on Brand Boulevard.

For Scott, this is a return to his childhood.

He was raised on a farm in Baldwin Park Baldwin Park, city (1990 pop. 69,330), Los Angeles co., S Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles, in the fertile San Gabriel valley; settled 1870, inc. 1956. Its industries include metal fabrication, printing, and plastics manufacturing. , before the neighborhood was developed into sprawling suburbia.
