NORTH COAST HARBOR PLANS FREE SUMMER PROGRAM FOR KIDS
CLEVELAND, July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- North Coast Harbor, Inc. will

begin its second annual summer program for Cleveland children on July 14. The free program is designed to familiarize children with the beauty and value of Cleveland's lakefront.
The program, or "Day Camp" as it is called, is organized by North Coast Harbor with the assistance of Cleveland City Council members, who recommend recreation and day care centers in their wards for the program. "The day camp at North Coast Harbor provides the residents of Cleveland with a very valuable service," said City Council President Jay Westbrook. "The Day Camp is a great learning experience for kids, and it gives them an opportunity to see more of the city. And it's fun, too!"
The Day Camp is a half-day field trip to North Coast Harbor, including transportation, lunch and a sport drink bottle for each child. Activities include a guided tour of the Str. William G. Mather Museum, a nature presentation, a theater presentation and a safety demonstration.
The theater presentation, "Lady of the Lake," is specially produced for the North Coast Harbor Day Camp by Eden Valley Enterprises. The presentation is a portrayal of Annie Grey, the wife of late nineteenth-century Lake Captain Patrick Grey, who tells several Lake Erie shipping tales from the 1890s. The nature presentation will be given by a naturalist from the Shaker Lakes Regional Nature Center, who will provide hands-on activities which will focus on the ecological environment of the Great Lakes. In addition, Cleveland Electric Illuminating will present an electricity safety program.
The Day Camp will run four sessions per week through Aug. 5. Approximately 1,000 children are expected to attend.
