NORTH AMERICAN-BUILT TOYOTA SALES RISE IN SECOND 10-DAY PERIOD OF JUNE

 TORRANCE, Calif., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A. Inc., today reported that sales of its North American-built vehicles increased 6.0 percent in the second 10-day period of June to 11,626, compared to the same period in 1992. CYTD sales are at 207,950, up 21.9 percent over the same period last year.
 Toyota's North American-built vehicles, which include the midsize Camry sedan and station wagon, the compact Corolla sedan, and compact Toyota pickup trucks, accounted for 49.8 percent of all Toyotas sold in the United States in the 10-day period, compared to 45.2 percent in the same period last year, and 44.6 percent CYTD, compared to 37.0 percent in the same period last year.
 Toyota sold 23,334 total vehicles in the 10-day period, down 3.7 percent, and 466,391 CYTD, up 1.1 percent.
 Lexus reported sales of 1,697 luxury cars in the 10-day period, down 8.3 percent, and 42,254 CYTD, up 5.1 percent over the same period last year.
 Toyota sales leaders for the 10 days include Camry, up 18.5 percent to 7,720, which includes 5,783 U.S.-built models; the 4Runner compact sport utility vehicle increased 11.1 percent to 1,030; the Land Cruiser luxury sport utility vehicle increased 7.1 percent to 158.
 While total sales of Toyota compact pickup trucks decreased 14.4 percent to 3,594, sales of Toyota's U.S.-built compact pickup trucks rose 46.5 percent to 2,258.
 There were eight selling days in the second 10-day period of June compared to nine in the same period last year.
