NORTH AMERICAN VAN LINES CELEBRATES 60TH ANNIVERSARY

/ADVANCE/FORT WAYNE, Ind., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- North American Van Lines, Inc., will begin celebrating its 60th anniversary Oct. 29. The company has scheduled two days of recognition for the event.
North American began its operations in Cleveland in 1993 and relocated its corporate headquarters to Fort Wayne in 1947. The company now employs over 1,500 people in Fort Wayne and nearly 2,600 worldwide. It has an annual revenue of over $700 million.
The company undertook a re-structuring this year when it discontinued its general commodity truckload operations and began expanding its contract logistics capabilities.
The two major operating divisions are the Relocation Services Division and the High Value Products Division, which provide household goods and specialized transportation and logistics services on a global basis through its worldwide network of over 1,200 agents, which includes over 700 in the United States and 180 in Canada.
"The new North American," says Alan Brogan, the company's president and C.E.O., "is focused and strategically positioned to achieve our vision of becoming the safest, most customer-focused and successful transportation company in the world."
Brogan, who took over the reins of the company earlier this year, has quickly assessed the company's strengths, and implemented a series of plans and programs designed to improve the financial performance of North American, while at the same time positioning it for growth and expansion in key market segments.
North American Van Lines, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Norfolk Southern Corporation (NYSE: NSC), where Brogan also serves as executive vice president of the Transportation Logistics Division. Norfolk Southern Corporation is headquartered in Norfolk, Va.
