NORTH AMERICAN TECHNOLOGIES GROUP AND NORTH AMERICAN TECHNOLOGIES, INC. ANNOUNCES TEST RESULTS

TORONTO, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- North American Technologies Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NATK) and North American Technologies, Inc. (Alberta Stock Exchange: NAT) (collectively referred to as "North American") are pleased to announce that continued laboratory testing of North American's abilities to enhance heavy crude oil streams have yielded encouraging results. To date, North American has focused on developing commercial applications of these technologies in the areas of environmental remediation and the treatment of oil and gas drilling & production waste. Management believes that these results represent the opportunity to develop a third market for the technologies in the area of the upgrading of certain crude oil streams under the trade name of the BioCatalytic Hydrocarbon Process(TM).
North American has verified through independent laboratory testing chemical and physical changes to several low value crude oil and bituminous materials derived through processing with NAT's organically based catalysts. A representative sample of the test work is set forth below:
 LIGHT TO MEDIUM CRUDE OILS
API Gravity: Up to a 40 percent increase
Sulfur Content: 10 percent to 65 percent decrease
Light Aromatics: Achieved 100 percent of the time
LIGHT TO MEDIUM PARAFFINIC CRUDE OILS
API Gravity: Up to a 30 percent increase
Sulfur Content: 25 percent to 60 percent decrease
Pour Point: 5 to 15 degrees F decrease
 TAR SANDS
API Gravity: Increase from 6 degrees API to
 33 degrees API
Sulfur Content: 25 percent to 60 percent decrease
Volatiles: Achieved 100 percent of the time
Heavy Metals: 5 percent to 20 percent decrease
Extraction Efficiency: 88 percent to 97 percent
These tests indicate that the BioCatalytic Hydrocarbon Process caused changes or improvement in viscosity, total sulfur content, specific gravity, total metals content and pour point of the crude oil streams that were tested. This could result in a significant increase in the value of the processed oil through lower transportation and refining costs.
As a result of these tests, North American will begin testing a field prototype unit for the processing of various crude oil streams. The first test location will be at Canadian Crude Separator, Inc.'s Big Valley Processing Facility in the Province of Alberta. North American is also negotiating with two major oil companies to commence testing the BioCatalytic Hydrocarbon Process at their facilities.
