NORTEL HELPS ED.GOV IMPROVE WEB SITE RANKING.

The U.S. Department of Education's ED.gov ranks among the top 10 federal agency websites in an influential report on e- government, thanks to a collaborative effort between the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Nortel Government Solutions, a U.S. company wholly-owned by Nortel (NYSE/TSX: NT).

ED.gov was the eighth-best federal agency website - up 15 places from 2005 - in the latest edition of "State and Federal E-Government in the United States," a report published annually since 2000 by the Taubman Center for Public Policy at Brown University.

The report ranks websites based on availability of online publications and databases, audio and video clips, access for the disabled, security, readability, and a variety of other features.

Improving ED.gov helps the Department of Education to more effectively serve its constituents. Nortel Government Solutions worked with key OCIO personnel to analyze the site's deficiencies - based on feedback from administrators of the Brown University report - and developed an efficient, cost-effective improvement strategy. The success of this strategy was confirmed by this year's report.
