NORDSTROM TEAMS WITH FACONNABLE TO OPEN NEW YORK STORE

NICE, France, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Faconnable, worldwide men's designer and retailer based in Nice, announced today that it will partner with Seattle-based specialty fashion retailer Nordstrom (NASDAQ: NOBE) to open Faconnable New York, the company's first free- standing store in the United States, Oct. 1, according to Nordstrom. Located on Fifth Avenue at 54th Street (the site previously occupied by Gucci), the store will feature Faconnable's (pronounced fa-so-na-bleh) complete collection of men's tailored apparel, sportswear, furnishings and accessories. Currently, Faconnable apparel is available in the United States only at Nordstrom.
Although this is the company's first store in this country, Faconnable is well-known throughout the world. Faconnable owns and operates more than 20 stores in France, plus stores in Brussels, Madrid, Lisbon, Dusseldorf and Zurich.
Additionally, Faconnable operates 20 stores in Japan. "We are proud that Faconnable has been able to expand its stores throughout Europe and Japan. Yet, we are truly pleased to at last be opening our first free- standing store in the United States," said Albert Goldberg, Faconnable designer and founder. "It has long been a dream of mine to bring our store concept to the states. Teamed with Nordstrom, we're now able to make that dream a reality, and to occupy what we consider to be the premier location in Manhattan."
Nordstrom, as the exclusive licensee of Faconnable U.S., will oversee the physical renovation of the building and store opening. Once open, Nordstrom, in partnership with Faconnable, will manage day-to-day operations and provide the sales force for the 5,200-square-foot store.
The company currently carries Faconnable at 50 of its Nordstrom stores throughout the country. "We knew when we first brought Faconnable to our stores in 1989 that it would be extremely well- received by our customers," said Jack Irving, executive vice president, Men's Division. "Albert, having grown up in the tailoring business, brings years of experience to his line. The workmanship, fabrics and style are beyond reproach and the garments are world class."
