 NORDSTROM CONTRIBUTES $10,000 TO UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND
 SEATTLE, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Northwest Office of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) announced today that Nordstrom has donated $10,000 to the Fund as part of their annual corporate campaign drive. In addition, Nordstrom will contribute another $5,000 annually for the next three years as one of the corporate sponsors of the upcoming UNCF Walkathon.
 "We are thrilled to receive this kind of support from Nordstrom," said Adrienne Caver, area development director for United Negro College Fund. "These funds will have a tremendous impact on our efforts in the African-American community. We appreciate Nordstrom's ongoing support, and we hope this will be an incentive to other Northwest companies," she added. Caver characterized the donation as the third largest the organization received in this year's campaign. The donation represents nearly 10 percent of their total corporate campaign goal for Washington state. In addition, Caver announced that Nordstrom Co-President Ray Johnson will be the general campaign chair for this year's UNCF fundraising efforts.hips and support for the 41 colleges and universities that are members of the Fund. "This organization is one of the very best ways to reach out to African-American youth and make a positive difference," said Charles Dudley, vice president of Human Resources at Nordstrom. "The Fund also underscores our company interest in improving access to educational opportunities for those who might not otherwise have the chance."
 The United Negro College Fund's Walkathon will be held in Seattle on Sept. 19 at Seward park. This year, the UNCF hopes to raise more than $60,000 from the walk.
 Founded in 1944, the United Negro College Fund is to raise funds and provide services for its member institutions and economically disadvantaged students. The Northwest area office includes Washington, Montana, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.
