NORBIC to Administer Business Assistance to Illinois Metalcasting Industry.

) has announced the award of $300,000 to be used for direct assistance to the metalcasting industry within Illinois. The funds will be administered by the Environmental Assistance Center at the North Business & Industrial Council (NORBIC), Chicago. In addition, a number of organizations will be supplying expertise to the project, including the Energy Resources Center at the Univ. of Illinois- Chicago; the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources Waste Management & Research Center; Commonwealth Edison's Industrial Programs Div.; the Northeast-Midwest Institute; the Illinois EPA's Office of Pollution Prevention; the Metal Casting Metal casting

A metal-forming process whereby molten metal is poured into a cavity or mold and, when cooled, solidifies and takes on the characteristic shape of the mold.

The project will fund assessments and technical services at six or more Illinois metalcasting facilities over the next 2 years.
