It was founded in 1902 to deliver water and electricity supplies to residents and businesses in Los Angeles. Science Bowl - and North Hollywood won. North Hollywood High
``I have a lot of mixed feelings here,'' said Len Soloff, North Hollywood's coach. ``I wanted one team to dominate the other, but they pretty much came out equal. Other than that, it's a great day for North Hollywood.'' ``We had amazingly difficult competition,'' said Tanya Martin of Encino of the younger, less experienced B Team. ``Our own B Team - the people we trained ourselves.'' The science bowl drew more than 200 high school students from 42 teams and 25 high schools for the competition Saturday at the DWP DWP Department of Work and Pensions (UK) DWP Drinking Water Program DWP Dynamic Weapon Pricing (gamin, Counter-Strike: Source) DWP Department of Water & Power DWP Drinking Water Protection headquarters downtown. This was the seventh consecutive year a team from North Hollywood has won the LADWP LADWP Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Science Bowl. Indications that North Hollywood's chances were good surfaced when the two teams squared off at the quarterfinal round, with the B Team defeating the A Team 74 to 70. ``Are you going to have to shake hands to perform the customary act of civility by clasping and moving hands, as an expression of greeting, farewell, good will, agreement, etc. See also: Shake with yourself?'' Because the science bowl is set up in a double-elimination format, more than 400 people then watched as North Hollywood's A Team defeated Venice High School's A Team 82 to 62, winning the right to square off against the North Hollywood B Team again for the championship. North Hollywood A then defeated B 54 to 46, and in the final round, 52 to 20 to clinch the championship. Venice's coach, Richard Erdman, was philosophical about his team's third-place finish - Venice lost to North Hollywood last year in a nail- biting double-overtime: ``One of these years we'll pull it off. The kids are wonderful.'' What makes the science bowl so challenging, Erdman said, is that students are quizzed in many fields that aren't covered in the standard high school curriculum. ``The only way you do well is you read continuously and you read everything,'' Erdman said.
