Prior to coming on board with Northern Ontario Business, Huhtala worked as a special projects editor for Northernlinc, a division of Laurentian Publishing Ltd. Born and raised in Sudbury, she moved away from the area in the mid 1990s to gain further experience as a reporter and photographer working for Metroland Printing, Publishing and Distributing in central Ontario Central Ontario is the portion of the Canadian province of Ontario which lies between Georgian Bay and the eastern end of Lake Ontario. The population of the region was 959,266 in 2001; however, this number does not include large numbers of seasonal residents, which at peak , then returned once again to the North to further pursue a career in journalism.
