NO WEDDING PLANS, HECHE ASSURES REITMAN.

Byline: Marilyn Beck & Stacy Jenel Smith

Ivan Reitman starts production of ``6 Days, 7 Nights'' in Hawaii July 7, with Harrison Ford and Anne Heche - with the assurance from Heche that she and Ellen DeGeneres Ellen Lee DeGeneres (born January 26, 1958) is an American stand-up comedian, actress, and currently the Emmy Award-winning host of the syndicated talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

DeGeneres has hosted both the Academy Awards and the Primetime Emmys.
won't be going through a wedding ceremony during the shoot.

In response to reports that such a ceremony in Hawaii was exactly what DeGeneres and Heche had planned, Reitman says, ``It's ridiculous. I even asked her about it. She said, `I'm not ready to marry anyone.' ''

And what about rumors that Reitman is thinking of replacing Heche because he didn't know how believable her love scenes with Ford would now seem?

``If I had done that, it would have happened quite a while ago.''

Indeed, when news of the DeGeneres-Heche pairing became public in April, Reitman was quoted as saying he was worried about the effect on his film if the relationship remained high profile.

However, he now says, ``She's gone through wardrobe fittings and she's had readings with Harrison that have been great. In fact, everything's great - and I still believe in her.''

Pressing issues

The restaurant-nightclub's debut is pegged to what Presley forces refer to as ``Elvis Week,'' which is expected to draw more than 50,000 fans of the King to Memphis mid-August, the 20th anniversary of Elvis' death. Finding a way

Mykelti Williamson, who's in the recent big-screen ``Truth or Consequences'' and plays Nicolas Cage's cell mate in ``Con Air,'' has a wealth of other projects ahead. They include the planned sequel to the hit sci-fi flick ``Species,'' in which he'll star. ``I'm finally getting to fulfill my dream of playing an astronaut. I tried to get in on `Apollo 13,' '' he deadpans, ``but there were no brothers on the scene.''

Long time coming

Joe Mantegna still is amazed by the path that led him to sign on for the Encore cable network's upcoming ``A Call to Remember.'' ``Five years ago, I was at the 40th birthday party of a friend, who brought over a guy he introduced as a writer. The guy said, `I like your work. ... I've written this movie that's basically my parents' life. ... I'd like you to play my father.' '' Five years passed. Then one day, Mantegna's agent gave him a script by a writer named Max Eisenberg, about a man and a woman who each lost their families in the holocaust, who meet and fall in love in America, marry, raise a family, and then have their world turned upside down when she receives word that a child she'd thought had died was alive and coming to meet her.

``I read five or six scripts a week, and this one really jumped out,'' says Mantegna. ``Then I happened to talk to my friend, who said, `Remember that guy you met at my 40th birthday? He's sent you a script.' '' Indeed, it was Max Eisenberg. ``It's ironic. I had already decided to do it,'' Mantegna says. Now he and Eisenberg have become pals, and Mantegna has pored over the Eisenberg family albums that recount the real-life drama.
