``The Shield'' opens its fifth season in typically attention-grabbing fashion - with a brawl at a funeral, followed in short order by a brawl at a high school. It's an all-out race war, and while tax cuts may be stretching the cops at the Barn thin, all this just gives Vic Mackey Detective Vic Mackey, portrayed by Michael Chiklis, is a fictional Los Angeles Police Department detective and leader of the Strike Team, a four-man anti-gang unit in the FX crime drama series The Shield.  (Michael Chiklis Michael Charles Chiklis (born August 30, 1963) is an Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning American actor.
