NO RELIEF IN SIGHT FROM HIGH WINDS.

Byline: Daily News

SANTA CLARITA - High winds blew across Santa Clarita on Thursday, upending some Christmas decorations and annoying drivers.

No serious problems were reported, though the California Highway Patrol issued wind advisories for the Antelope Valley and Golden State freeways through the valley. And Los Angeles County Fire Department officials warned that the winds created a fire hazard.

Winds were constant at 35 miles per hour to 45 mph and gusted up to 60 mph. At midmorning, blowing tumbleweeds briefly blocked lanes at state Highway 126 near Newhall Ranch Road. And a street sign at The Old Road and Magic Mountain Parkway dangled over traffic after becoming detached on one side.

The National Weather Service predicted more of the same for today with strong, gusty winds, sunny skies and temperatures hitting the high 60s. Winds will decrease over the weekend.

Saturday will be breezy and sunny with highs in the 60s and overnight lows in the mid-40s to mid-50s. The forecast calls for similar weather through at least Wednesday.
