It didn't seem possible, but finally, there is a team that plays worse defense than the Clippers. At least for one night, anyway.

The Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are a professional basketball team based in Toronto, Ontario.
, showing the intensity required for an exhibition game, generously allowed the Clippers to break a franchise-record for points scored in L.A.'s 152-120 victory Friday night before 6,152 at the Sports Arena.

The Clippers had it so easy, they also set a franchise-record for field-goal percentage (.693), and a Clippers record for field goals made (61). The Clippers had previously scored 146 points in 1991 and 1984, before breaking the record against the Raptors.

``I'd rather have 152 wins,'' Clippers coach Bill Fitch William Fitch (born May 19 1934 in Davenport, Iowa) is a former NBA coach who has been successful in making teams playoff contenders throughout his coaching career. Before entering the professional ranks he coached college ball at the University of Minnesota, Bowling Green State  joked, when informed of the record. ``(But) as much as we've had thrown at us, those guys deserve something.''

The total was also the most scored by an NBA NBA

team this season, and a sudden turnaround after the Clippers (14-49) were embarrassed the previous evening in a 108-85 loss to the Lakers.

``That's the thing about this league,'' center Isaac Austin Isaac Edward "Ike" Austin (born August 18, 1969 in Gridley, California) is a retired American professional basketball player.

said. ``You always get a chance to redeem yourself. Everybody feels good to blow another team out.''

The game should have been closer, considering there was so much at stake, in the battle for the NBA's second-worst record. That title tentatively rests with the Raptors (13-49), after the Clippers' convincing victory.

``I guess they thought we were going to be the Lakers tonight,'' Toronto coach Butch Carter Clarence Eugene "Butch" Carter (born June 11 1958 in Springfield, Ohio, United States) is a former player and coach of the National Basketball Association. He is the older brother of retired NFL wide receiver Cris Carter.  said.

``It was an old-fashioned butt-kicking out there,'' Raptors guard Dee Brown Dee Brown may refer to:

Among the shooting stars for the Clippers were Darrick Martin (7 for 8, 21 points), Maurice Taylor (9 for 11, 18 points) and Rodney Rogers (8 for 11, 24 points). Lamond Murray had a game-high 25 points, making 11 of 17 shots.

Part of the Clippers' performance might be explained by their 35-percent shooting effort and porous defense against the Lakers. They were criticized by Fitch for both following Thursday's loss.

``Our shooting was atrocious,'' Fitch said.

As for the Clippers' defense, Fitch said, ``We've got some guys that worry too much about their offensive effort and not enough about their defensive effort.''
