NO CRITICIZING SCIOSCIA NOW.

 - Let's see Let's See was a Canadian television series broadcast on CBC Television between September 6, 1952 to July 4, 1953. The segment, which had a running time of 15 minutes, was a puppet show with a character named Uncle Chichimus (voice of John Conway), which presented each , where were we? Oh, yeah, something about dancing with who brought you. At least until there is a really, !really painful lesson.

Mike Scioscia
Michael Lorri "Mike" Scioscia (born November 27 1958 in Morton, Pennsylvania) is a former catcher and current Major League Baseball manager. His last name is pronounced SO-shuh. He is often referred to by the nickname Sosh.

     as a manager.

The next day, though, Scioscia said he was fine with it.

``Eight hours last night of tossing and turning, and I finally came to the conclusion I would have done the same thing,'' Scioscia said.

Anyway, that's what he said before the Angels' Game 2 against the Yankees. So wouldn't you know, like the baseball gods had this really twisted sense of humor Noun 1. sense of humor - the trait of appreciating (and being able to express) the humorous; "she didn't appreciate my humor"; "you can't survive in the army without a sense of humor"

This time, the Angels were leading by two runs instead of one, but otherwise it looked more familiar than pinstripes on Don Zimmer

      .

Two runners on, two outs in the eighth ... only the bullpen door swings open and out comes Percival.

To his credit, or stubborn streak, Scioscia had started the inning exactly as he had the previous night, bringing out Ben Weber to begin the eighth.

Weber, who got the first two outs in the opener before giving up a pair of walks, this time got one out before giving up a pair of singles, the second off his right hand, spraining a finger and ending his evening.

``When Weber got out of the inning with the injury, there was no way we weren't going to Percy,'' Scioscia said.

Not at first, though. Scioscia goes back to Brendan Donnelly, his 31- year-old rookie.

Not that this underlines the differences in these two teams but ...

Donnelly, who gave up the game-winning, three-run homer to Bernie Williams in Game 1, this time catches pinch-hitter John Vander Wal John (Henry) Vander Wal (born April 29, 1966 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is a former American Major League Baseball player, a left-handed hitter who played outfield and first base for eight different teams over 14 seasons.  looking at a third strike for the second out.

``He got a big out for us,'' Scioscia said.

And we're happy to report, end of job.

Percival comes in and is so pumped up, he promptly throws his first pitch in the back of Alfonso Soriano.

This puts the winning run on, loads the bases, gets the Yankee Stadium fans all lathered up, squeezes a tense game even tighter, and brings up Derek Jeter.

Jeter, who is just killing the Angels, who seems to be up every other New York at-bat. But Jeter is 2 for 11 lifetime against Percival.

Jeter is caught looking at a third strike that might have been on the edge of the plate and Percival has worked out of the jam.

The Angels, who would show everyone just how resilient they are with a 17-hit attack, came back with one more run in the ninth to turn an 8-5 lead over to Percival.

Percy's first batter in the ninth is Jason Giambi, who had singled in the tying run in the eighth Tuesday while Percival and his 98-mph fastball were left in the 'pen. Giambi was 0-5 lifetime against Percival with five strikeouts.

Naturally, Giambi singles to start a rally. Hey, like Scioscia could see this coming. Two singles score one and leave the tying runs on.

Everything was feeling way too familiar. The Yankees on the verge On the Verge (or The Geography of Yearning) is a play written by Eric Overmyer. It makes extensive use of esoteric language and pop culture references from the late nineteenth century to 1955.  of another standard playoff comeback. Mystique over ghosts. Irish tenors over rally monkeys. Veteran relievers over rookies. Troy Glaus hitting a solo home run to tease the Angels with the lead.

These weren't games, but operas. Really long ones. This one lasted more than four hours and ended after midnight in New York.

But the Angels still weren't going away, kids invited to the big boys' party who don't seem to understand their proper place.

Percival strikes out Nick Johnson. He gets ex-Dodger Raul Mondesi to pop up.

And Percival has his first save, the Angels the victory, and the series is suddenly tied.

No strange twists, no balls just out of reach, no questionable decisions by umpires do the Angels in. And no Scioscia controversy.

``This is baseball,'' Scioscia said. ``Opinions are great.''

      Particularly after winning.
