DEFIANT Sion chief Christian Constantin last night told Charles Green to forget about getting any money for Kyle Lafferty.

The Northern Ireland international will be unveiled at the Stade Tourbillon today after agreeing a megabucks three-year contract with the Swiss.

Lafferty signed on the basis that he was available under freedom of contract after rejecting a transfer of his Ibrox deal to Green's newco.

Steven Whittaker has joined Norwich under the same belief but Rangers are understood to have Turn to Page 55 represented Everton-bound Steven Naismith, explained: "It is very clear cut. Under TUPE regulations, there is an obligation on the transfer companies to inform the employees of their plans and then the employee has an opportunity to object.

"If the employee takes that opportunity, their contract ends. It is clear."

Whittaker admitted that his life had been turned around in the space of a week after agreeing a long-term deal with the Canaries.

He said: "Last Sunday, when it was announced I was not staying at Rangers, I was full of sad emotions.

"From that despair, though, I now have the challenge of playing in the best league in the world. It is totally impossible to explain the difference in feelings."

With Naismith, Allan McGregor and Steve Davis following his lead, Whittaker expects to be joined by some of his old colleagues in the English top flight.

He added: "The boys who have chosen not to sign with the newco all have faith that they are going to find a club somewhere."

Constantin, however, has made it clear he'll be paying nothing to Green and that he expects FIFA to back him.

The Sion chairman had a series of battles with UEFA and FIFA last season as he challenged the decision to boot his club out of the Europa League and reinstate Celtic to the tournament.

But he's convinced the game's rulers will be on his side over Lafferty and told Record Sport last night: "I am not surprised to hear that Rangers want some money.

"I'm aware of the problems facing them but there are no problems for me with these players. They are free.

"There is no contract for the players, there will be no problem with FIFA."

Whittaker joined Norwich a week after his lawyer sat beside him in a Glasgow hotel to confirm there was no breach of rules and Green couldn't block the players leaving for free.
