NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS), the leading supplier of technology for tomorrow's networks, today announced that LOCUS Corporation (KOSDAQ: 34600) has deployed NMS hardware platforms as the foundation for its intelligent peripheral solution for Korea Telecom, the largest telecommunications service provider in Korea.

NMS' Alliance Generation(R) (AG) 4000C voice platform and the Convergence Generation(TM) (CG) 6000C development platform for Internet Protocol (IP) telephony solutions provide core technology for the Locus Intelligent Point System(TM) (LIPS(TM)). At Korea Telecom, LIPS' intelligent peripheral capabilities will power value-added, enhanced services as well as basic convenience call services, including unified messaging services (UMS), voice portals, voice over IP (VoIP), integrated voice response (IVR), fax over IP (FoIP), toll-free service, televoting and auto collect call. Services delivered span both the traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN) as well as the Internet.

With the successful implementation of LIPS at Korea Telecom, LOCUS, a leader of the intelligent telecommunications industry in Korea, and NMS have deployed telephony platforms for two of Korea's major carriers. LIPS was also recently implemented at Shinsegi Telecomm, Korea's second largest mobile service provider. The installations are notable for their support of high-density trunk interfaces and thousands of ports. At Korea Telecom, for example, NMS and LOCUS support a density of 64 E1 interfaces in one system, providing approximately 10,000 PSTN and 2,000 VoIP ports.
