 NISSAN LAUNCHES NEW MID-ATLANTIC REGION
MARKING THE FINAL PHASE OF LOCALIZATION ROLLOUT
HERNDON, Va., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Nissan Division of Nissan Motor Corporation in U.S.A., today announced the launch of its Mid- Atlantic region in Herndon, marking the final rollout of the two-year "localization" strategy.
The opening of the office -- one of three launched today -- completes the new regional structure, which provides greater resources and decision-making authority to the field. Through localization, the division consolidated its previous 11 regions into seven offices to help the company more effectively interact with its dealers and customers.
"The restructuring process may appear complex, but the concept is simple," said Tom Mignanelli, president and chief executive officer of Nissan. "By reordering the way we do business, we have become more sensitive to market conditions and given each region greater authority to make decisions which affect their markets. As a result, we are better able to serve our dealers, and, ultimately, our customers."
One of the most visible ways that Nissan has empowered the regions is through the creation of the Dealer Operations Manager (DOM) position. The DOMs are senior company representatives who live in the district served and are qualified to assist the dealers in parts, service, sales and customer satisfaction.
The Mid-Atlantic region, previously known as the Norfolk Region, recently relocated to Herndon, a suburb of Washington, D.C. The region added 40 new jobs for a total of 80 employees, and increased its dealer count from 87 to 150. Its largest concentration of dealerships is in the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area.
According to Tom Center, regional general manager, "The dealers are pleased and excited to have more direct contact with us as a result of the recent restructuring -- they've really embraced our localization program."
The launch of the new regional structure, coupled with the introduction of new products later this year, will enable Nissan to become an even stronger force in the automotive industry.
